The movie is now Quentin Tarantino’s highest grossing film in North America, ahead of Inglorious Bastards. In the next few days, Django will be Tarantino’s biggest film period, when it surpasses Inglorious’ $321 final tally.

The film is performing so well the inevitable talk of sequel is getting louder each day. The stars, Jamie Foxx and Kerry Washington, are receptive to the idea too.

Not many expected the slave love story/western to outperform the director’s last major film outings – but it’s doing so, spectacularly.

Movie tracking website, Boxofficemojo, now rank the film as the 3rd highest grossing western – ever. Only Kevin Costner’s Dances with Wolves  and Matt Damon’s True Grit are ahead of it.

The film’s lead actors Jamie Foxx and Kerry Washington also have their biggest career grosses with Django. Most expect the film to end its run with around $470 – $490 million internationally.
