Last Man To Walk On The Moon Gene Cernan Died Today

Gene Cernan was the last human being to walk on the surface of the moon and now the Apollo era astronaut is gone. He was 82 years old.

Along with Neil Armstrong – the first man on the moon – Cernan was regarded as one of the original heroes and pioneers of America’s space program.

There is real resurgence in the history and nostalgia for the Apollo and Gemini eras in space endeavors. The movie Hidden Figures maybe benefiting from the upsurge public enthusiasm and interest.

Hidden Figures was primarily focused on John Glenn‘s first orbital flight and the women who helped get him there; Katherine Johnson (Taraji P. Henson), Dorothy Vaughan (Octavia Spencer) and Mary Jackson (Janelle Monáe).
