Jay-z should be the artist selected to do the next James Bond theme song. Not only because a rapper hasn’t done a Bond song but because the legendary New York poet’s got swagger.
Jay has impacted modern culture like no other artist alive. The guy’s retired like twice from music but each of his comeback record is fresher than the last.
Originally, 007’s theme songs were performed by the popular artist of the day, a trend started with Shirley Bassey. Paul McCartney with Wings and Sheryl Crowe all put their spins on Bond tunes.
Wouldn’t it be cool if a modern, hip, rapper got a shot at the theme? It’s more than overdue for hip hop to spice up Bond a bit and take the franchise away the 60’s inspired songs over the years.
