After an unusually long time away from cinemas, Will Smith returns with a loud bang, destroying his competition at the box office. At the North American cineplexes his Men in Black 3 movie, grossed an impressive $55 million, finally ending the reign of Sam Jackson’s Avengers ensemble.
Most noteworthy, Will managed to match and surpass the initial gross of the last Men in Black movie. Internationally the movie star did even better, especially in Russia and China (grossing an astounding $150 million overseas).
Not many doubted the star’s boxoffice prowess but after the final gross of Smith’s last film, Seven Pounds – $65 million locally- he himself may have been shaken up. The father of three stayed behind the cameras shepherding the careers of his equally talented kids.
